Kwanzaa Tales

2:00 PM – 3:30 PM
Burlington County Library

Description

Come celebrate Kwanzaa with us by experiencing this fun, interactive performance full of storytelling and music! You'll get to explore the seven powerful principles of Kwanzaa; Unity, Self-Determination, Collective Work and Responsibility, Cooperative Economics, Purpose, Creativity and Faith through Kwanzaa Tales, a lively and meaningful experience that brings these values to life.

Kwanzaa is more than a holiday. It’s a celebration of family, community, and culture, created in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga. It’s observed from December 26 to January 1, and each day highlights one of the seven principles that inspire and uplift the African American and pan-African community all year long.

This performance is presented by Tahira, a 2023 Delaware Division of the Arts Master Fellow in Oral Literature. Tahira is a gifted storyteller, talented musician, vocalist and songwriter.

This performance is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Burlington County Library.
