Description

American Revolutionaries wrestled with a crucial question: did the Declaration of Independence’s claim that “all men are created equal” truly apply to everyone? From the very start of the Revolution, people of African descent challenged and answered this question through their words and deeds. In this talk, discover their stories and explore the artifacts at the Museum that bring to life the experiences of Phillis Wheatley, Elizabeth Freeman, James Forten, Harry Washington and others! Questions & Answer period to follow.
