Two centuries ago, fifty-two men met in total secrecy to create a new government. During four long months, those delegates debated over how much power the government and the people would have. Fresh in the memories of all Americans at that time, was the tyranny of a king and the violence that followed. From that era, Americans striving to create a better society formed our new constitutional government. This four part series will guide participants through the philosophical foundations, the framing, and the role of the Constitution and citizens in the creation of our government. Participants will consider who we are as Americans, both in the past as well as the present and whether or not we have lived up to ideals of justice and freedom.

This class will focus on a Blueprint for Governance. 

Topics will include:

• How the United States’ Constitution organized our government.
• How the Constitution limits the power of each branch of government.
• The limits to the power of government and how it protects its citizens.
